„Das Leben christlicher Jungfrauen und ihre Pflichten und Verpflichtungen“ von Jean Girard de Villethierry (1641–1709), Priester der Diözese Paris und produktiver Autor, ist eine Verherrlichung der christlichen Jungfräulichkeit. Er beschreibt ihre Pflichten und warnt vor den tückischen Fallstricken, die ihre Reinheit gefährden könnten. Das Buch erfreute sich großer Beliebtheit, wie die zahlreichen Neuauflagen belegen: 1698, 1703, 1707, 1714, 1716, 1725.
