John Lizars Anatomical Plate – Hand-Coloured Copperplate Engraving, 1823–1827 -
An original early 19th-century anatomical print from John Lizars’ celebrated atlas, A System of Anatomical Plates of the Human Body, published in Edinburgh between 1823 and 1827.
The plate was engraved on copper by William Home Lizars and hand-coloured, producing the exceptional detail and fine anatomical labelling characteristic of this important period of medical illustration.
