An original early 19th-century hand-coloured copperplate engraving from A System of Anatomical Plates of the Human Body, published in Edinburgh between 1823 and 1827 by the renowned anatomist John Lizars. This authentic antique anatomical print is approximately 200 years old and was engraved on copper by Lizars’ brother, William Home Lizars (1788–1859). Highly regarded for both its scientific importance and artistic quality, the atlas is described as “one of the most elegant works of the nineteenth century” (Cushing L313). Each plate was meticulously hand-coloured, making every example unique and highly sought after by collectors of medical history, anatomy, and antique prints.

Condition:  Bright Clear Image - As a genuine antique engraving, the print may show minor age-related characteristics such as light foxing, toning, dust marks, or small closed margin tears, all consistent with its age and originality.
