Cette gravure anatomique du XVIIIe siècle, réalisée par William Hunter (1718-1783) et figurant la planche XXXIV , est une œuvre majeure de l'illustration médicale. Illustrée par Jan van Rymsdyk et d'autres graveurs , puis imprimée par John Baskerville à Birmingham , elle représente un fœtus à terme dans son utérus, l'utérus et la paroi abdominale ouverts, et les os du bassin sectionnés transversalement. Ces dessins, basés sur des dissections réelles de corps de femmes enceintes, constituent l'une des œuvres les plus importantes de l'histoire de l'obstétrique.
