The Khalkha Cap "Yuden"  is a traditional Mongolian headpiece worn by young girls, particularly among the Khalkha ethnic group, the largest in Mongolia. It is part of the broader tradition of Mongolian national costumes, which are known for their intricate designs, practical functionality, and deep cultural symbolism. A traditional hat worn by the Khalkha Mongols for centuries. The cap would have been crafted with high-quality materials, featuring  intricate embroidery and a distinctive peaked design, symbolising strength and nobility.

The gold paint used in the illustration adds a luminous, almost three-dimensional quality to the image. It is a form of metallic pigment or gold leaf applied to highlight specific elements, such as embroidery, jewellery, or the embellishments on clothing and headpieces. This technique enhances the sense of opulence and reflects the historical use of gold and gilded decorations in Mongolian aristocratic and ceremonial dress.

Yadamsuren, a well-known Mongolian artist and ethnographer whose work captures the aesthetic and cultural significance of garments like the tortsog, ensuring that these traditions are remembered and appreciated.

The national dress of the Mongols has a rich history and an artistic tradition of many centuries.
