A fine example of a late 1800's Gladstone or "Doctors" bag. The beautifully textured crocodile hide exterior is a deep dark brown in colour with end panels in a lighter contrasting shade. The original interior is in a fresh light brown suede making it difficult to imagine this bag is over 120 years old ! The brass hardware is good, clean and functions perfectly.
Unlike some huge cumbersome Gladstone bags of the period this small, lightweight example reflects a sophisticated elegance in its proportions measuring L 39cm x W 20cm x H 18cm - perfect for everyday use about town or evening use.
