"these consist of the vessels which return the blood from the lower extremity, from the viscera of the pelvis and of the abdomen - the superior and inferior cava and azygos veins are here shown. The dissection required to procure this view consists in removing the whole anterior part of the thorax and abdomen, together with the viscera"
