A well proportioned (73cm high) carved and painted devotional figure in a kneeling pose with flowing robes. Carved in medieval manner. Traditionally these items would have been decorated with flowers and candles. Once common throughout the French countryside for travellers/pilgrims to stop off and pray. A great festive or shop window display item. France. Late 19th / early 20th (circa 1900)
