An intriguing folk art marionette from circa late 19th / early 20th C.
Consisting of a carved wood body with short arms and original costume the strangest feature has to be his painted metal face ! With a balding head and heavy black beard this little chap looks as bemused as we are - a great conversational piece of naive art. Possibly French in origin.
