This original 1869 anatomical plate comes from Francis Sibson’s Medical Anatomy: Illustrations of the Relative Position and Movements of the Internal Organs, one of the most technically advanced Victorian studies of thoracic and abdominal anatomy.

A striking 19th‑century Sibson anatomical lithograph of the human trunk — an ideal graduation gift for a medical student or clinician.

The coloured lithograph presents a dramatic dissection of the human trunk, showing the heart, lungs, diaphragm, ribcage and viscera in precise spatial relationship — exactly the kind of deep, layered anatomy Sibson was known for.

Dr Francis Sibson (1814–1876) was a leading physician‑anatomist whose work on respiration and organ topography shaped 19th‑century clinical teaching. His plates were produced in comparatively small numbers for medical schools rather than mass‑market atlases, making surviving examples scarce.
