Fabulously time worn painted 19th-century art nouveau spelter sculptures by *Louis Auguste Moreau.
“Sortie d’école” depicts a joyful boy with a spinning top, clad in a charming outfit. Beside him, “Oh !!! Eh” captures another youngster calling out to friends, with marbles scattered at his feet. He wears a buttoned vest, short pants, and a shoulder bag—likely his satchel.
Condition: as you can see from the photographs these have been overpainted at some time in the distant past and have sat outdoors resulting a highly attractive natural, time-worn soft patina. "Oh !!! Hey" has damage to the tips of both pinky fingers and “Sortie d’école” has damage to his left hand thumb. In both cases hardly visible but brought to your attention and does not detract from the charm of the set. We love them !
