A distressed but beautifully evocative mid nineteenth century oil painting on canvas portrait of a woman in period dress, wearing a floral decorated lace bonnet. Signed verso J Henry 1845. London canvas makers mark present.
Highly decorative and of time worn condition this piece is presented in its original found state with no restoration. There is some flaking and paint loss to the right hand side background and fine natural craquelure due to drying and age process over the past one hundred and seventy years.
