This is an original hand‑coloured anatomical lithograph plate relating to the heart and aorta, drawn/engraved by John Lizars for use in Jones Quain’s Atlas.  Descriptive and Surgical, first published in London in the mid‑19th century. Printed in London for Taylor & Walton, Booksellers and Publishers to the University of London, this plate dates to circa 1844.  Anatomy Plate 13 – Original 1844 Antique Medical Lithograph

Created as a teaching aid for medical students, this 19th‑century anatomical illustration captures the detailed relationship between the heart and the aorta. Very good antique condition - a genuine antique print approaching, minimal authentic signs of use and age. Provenance plate removed from original 19th century Medical Atlas.

This historically significant plate is ideal for collectors of medical ephemera, historians of science and medicine, and anyone seeking heritage décor with scholarly provenance. The print is presented on wove paper with tasteful hand‑colouring preserved, suitable for framing and display.
