Steamer Trunk / wardrobe, 1920's
Steamer Trunk / wardrobe, 1920's
Dating from circa early 20th Century this is an original antique travel wardrobe / trunk by maker Watajoy.
To survive the trials and tribulations of overseas steamship travel it is by design very sturdy and of heavy construction. The case opens to reveal a fully fitted interior encompassing a hanging wardrobe section with hangers, three drawers, a shoe section and a hat section.
The dark green exterior has the original single leather handle designed to pull the case along a dockside or platform and bears original travel labels as evidence of where the case has been in its lifetime. The studded trim adds to its robust look and the vintage case also has the initials"EMDN" relating to its previous owners. Unfortunately the lock bears evidence of damage and is no longer in working order - we must presume the keys were lost at some point and the owner resorted to drastic measures ! (please examine photographs)
This classic travel piece could be used as a decorative item in the home, for practical storage or as a coffee table. In good used condition with the expected marks gained from a lifetime of extensive travel.
