A rare and exquisite pair of 19th-century Louis XV style gilt-metal mounted turquoise porcelain candelabra by Thomas Abbott of Birmingham. Beautifully modelled and richly detailed, each piece features delicately scrolling gilt arms and finely cast Rococo ornamentation, resting on elegant porcelain bases of a vivid turquoise hue.

Stamped on the base “Thomas Abbott, Birmingham”, these exceptional candelabra showcase the refined craftsmanship and luxurious design typical of English decorative art in the mid- to late-19th century.

Condition: one candelabrum remains tight and stable; the other has some movement at the branch section, consistent with age. Both display excellent overall patina and presence.

A rare and highly decorative pair, perfect for collectors of fine English metalwork or for grand interior settings seeking a statement of timeless opulence.


Thomas Abbott Louis XV Style Gilt-Metal Turquoise Candelabra

Very Rare — A stunning pair of Thomas Abbott of Birmingham Louis XV style gilt-metal mounted turquoise porcelain candelabra, 19th century. Each features foliate-cast scrolling twin candle arms terminating in foliate-cast cups and drip pans. The twin-handled body is of baluster form, set on a circular foot cast with scrolls and shells. Stamped ‘ABBOTT’ to the base.

This exceptional pair stands 51 cm high and weighs approximately 2.5 kg each, offering both elegance and presence. A superb example of 19th-century English design that will bring distinction to any interior.

Thomas Abbott, bronze founder and lamp maker of Moor Street, Birmingham, was a respected craftsman of his era — examples of his work are held in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
